Art Camp 504 is a non profit organization serving young artists ages 7 - 14 in the New Orleans area. We offer after school classes, holiday break and summer camps. Our staff is comprised of professional artists and educators from a wide variety of disciplines.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

  • We have hired all of our lead after school teachers for Fall Semester. We are accepting applications for Spring 2025

  • We have a limited number of positions available for Holiday Camps and Summer 2025

LEAD TEACHING ARTIST

Position Type: Part-Time, Flexible Schedule

Location: The Tigermen Den, 3113 Royal St, New Orleans

Hours: School Breaks and Summer Camps

Position Summary:

Our lead teaching artists develop and implement creative, engaging workshops for children ages 7-14, guiding them through a variety of art projects and collaborative activities. The ideal candidate has experience teaching in an arts-focused setting and can adapt lessons to diverse skill levels. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement creative, age-appropriate art projects

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teaching artists and administrative staff to coordinate interdisciplinary projects. 

  • Mentorship: Support and mentor interns and volunteers, providing guidance and feedback as needed.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment; address any behavioral issues promptly and professionally.

  • Communication & Time Management: Meet required deadlines for prep work, respond to communications from administrative staff promptly

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience working with children ages 7 - 14, preferably in an arts-focused setting

  • Experience designing and leading art projects for small and/or large groups

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Passion for the arts and a creative, playful approach to learning

Compensation:

Starting rate $30 - $35 per hour, commensurate with experience. Opportunities for rate increase based on continued service and training.

Teaching assistant

Hours: School Breaks, After School and Summer Camps

Position Type: Part-Time, Seasonal

Position Summary:

Teaching Assistants work closely with Lead Teachers to help facilitate workshops, manage materials, and provide supervision to ensure a positive and engaging environment for all campers. This role is ideal for someone interested in gaining experience in arts education and youth programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist lead teaching artists in implementing art lessons, helping students with hands-on projects, and managing classroom activities.

  • Student Supervision: Maintain a safe and supportive environment by actively supervising children during classes, breaks, and transitions.

  • Material Preparation: Help set up and clean up art supplies, equipment, and classroom spaces before and after activities.

  • Small Group Interventions: Work with small groups or individual students that need extra support, offering guidance and positive reinforcement to keep them engaged.

  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with lead teachers and staff to coordinate daily activities and address any classroom needs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in an educational, camp, or afterschool setting

  • Interest in the arts and a passion for encouraging creativity in young people

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds

  • Positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to jump in and help where needed

  • Ability to work well in a team and take direction from lead teaching staff

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to commit to scheduled hours

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Position Type: Part-Time, Flexible Schedule

Location: The Tigermen Den, 3113 Royal St, New Orleans

Hours: Part-Time, Flexible Schedule

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is an entry level position for a student or young professional looking to gain more experience in non profit and educational work. You are assisting the Camp Director with a variety of production tasks. Time commitment of 2 - 7 hours per week, depending on the time of year. Flexible schedule - you will have tasks to complete within a given time frame with specific instructions. Opportunity for growth and additional responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Hanging flyers in cafes and schools

  • Distributing sponsorship packets in person to local businesses

  • Help bringing art supplies to and from camp

  • Picking up auction items and gift certificates for the Winter Fundraiser

  • Amazon and UPS returns

  • Tracking your work on provided google sheet spreadsheets (For example, making notes for each location you visited to drop off sponsorship packets)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • No prior production experience is required, we are looking candidates with good communication skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn and support our students

  • Must have access to a vehicle. You will be driving to different neighborhoods to flyer and distribute information

  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, Google Maps, prompt email and text communication

BENEFITS:

  • Payment of $15/hour

  • Gas reimbursement of $0.67 per mile
